TENOR SEDAT CAN ÖZTOPRAK (INTERNATİONAL OPERA SİNGER)
He was born on 01.01.1991 to a family of artists. Throughout the long years during which he lived
in Germany
with his father Baritone Sedat Öztoprak and his mother Soprano Efsun Öztoprak, Sedat Can
Öztoprak had the
chance to immerse himself fully in the world of art. He attended primary school at Friedrich
Wöhler Schule in
Kassel, Germany. In this period of time, he performed at concerts held in several cities with the
Cologne
Philharmonic Orchestra including his performance in Werther. He starred as the son of Wozzeck in
Wozzeck, by
Alban Berg at the Kassel State Opera House. There, he caught the attention of the conductor,
Marc Piollet.
Being appraised as a wunderkind, he focused himself fully on music. He sang as a member of the
children’s choir
in Rosenkavallier by Strauss. He held concerts with the conductor Berntland Lang along with the
Kassel
Symphony Orchestra. When Baritone Sedat Öztoprak was appointed as an intendant at the
Istanbul State
Opera and Ballet, he returned to Istanbul with his family in 2000. During this period, he took
lessons on cello,
composition and clarinet. He performed in various concerts, TV programs and he was featured in
the press as a
child prodigy. He starred in children’s roles in La Bohème, Un Ballo in Maschera and Hansel and
Gretel at the
Istanbul State Opera. He studied opera-singing at the Istanbul University State Conservatory at
the Department
of Opera from 2012 to 2019. He was a student of his father, Baritone Sedat Öztoprak. Following
his graduation,
he sang the role of Don Polidoro in La Finta Semplice by Mozart during its premiere in Turkey, the
role of Edward
Milfort in La Cambiale di Matrimonio by Rossini and the role of Bastien in Bastien Und Bastienne
by Mozart at
the stage of the Istanbul State Opera. He gave numerous concerts in the most prestigious concert
halls of
Istanbul. Some of these concerts include the following: the concert "Opera Stars of Today and
Tomorrow"
where he performed in the year 2016 along with the soloists of Istanbul State Opera, the World
Voice Day
concerts in the years 2016 and 2017, Leyla Gencer Tribute Concert in May 2019, Tenor-1 Solo
part of the
Beethoven Choral Fantasy that he sang at the concert held in May 2019 at the Istanbul Lütfü
Kırdar Exhibition
Center, the Baritone Sedat Öztoprak Tribute Concert held in June 2019 and the Opera Stars
Concert for the
Memory of Baritone Sedat Öztoprak, which was held in February, 2020 with the Istanbul Opera
soloists. Then,
he started to study with Baritone David Wakeham, in 2020. Then, in the same year, he was
accepted to the
"Berlin Opera Academy And International Opera Festival". Because of the pandemic, the
organization moved
from Berlin to Switzerland Kandersteg in the summer of 2021. In August 2021, he participated to
the "Berlin
Opera Academy And International Opera Festival". He sang the role of Rinuccio at Gianni
Schicchi by Puccini at
the Berlin Opera Academy and International Opera Festival in August, 2021 in Kandersteg,
Switzerland. As a
role of Rinuccio from Gianni Schicchi with the Vladimir Piontkovsky Memorial Scholarship Award
and Elizabeth
Luxton Memorial Scholarship Award. He also took part in the Gala Concert. He acted as a soloist
at Young Opera
Stars Concert in Istanbul. He joined Bariton Sedat Oztoprak Memorial Concert as a guest at
İstanbul State Opera. He still continues his
opera-singing studies with Baritone David Wakeham.
